Brexit means Brexit ( and 2 plus 2 equals five)

Imagine a referendum with 2 choices:

“Choice A: Due to the high levels of public spending, and historically low taxes, more short-term debt must be authorized.”

“Choice B: No more debt, higher public spending and lower taxes!”

Well … who, but a total fool …would choose :

“possible decreases in public spending, very likely future increases in net taxes, and guaranteed increases in short-term debt”

over the wonderful option of:

“NO Debt! No Reductions! Plus LowerTaxes!” ?

How can you NOT say: “Yea for plan B ! Yea for plan B ! Yea for plan B(rexit) ! “?

IF those two options were merely a matter of voter choice, how could one not vote for pain, I mean plan, B?

But how realistic are these supposed choices? Brexit means that 2 plus 2 equals five …………………

The great irony is that it is the British Tories. with their supposedly ’reality based’ austerity accounting,
who are proclaiming that “the people have spoken”
and they have chosen to adopt as pet
“the large dog, who does not need to be fed … or walked … or go potty”:
in other words …
a total fantasy. …

{Sorry TM, Brexit is NOT Brexit ,

any more than 2 plus 2
 (in standard base 10 math)
                 equals 5} . …………………………..

“Brexit” is vision of an amicable divorce, with many impossibly optimistic promises of ultimate outcome.
A post Brexit UK,
with all the advantages of membership in a single market, but none of the extra costs.

In reality the final details of post Brexit UK
will be substantially dictated
by the, now pissed off,
German and French EU delegations,
(plus the 5 Belgian regional parliaments, and
- let us not forget - the remaining 24 EU national delegations…)

so the ultimate deal is a totally unknown entity, over which Britain will have only restricted control.

……………

Once Article 50 is invoked … things will start to happen, with … or without

British O.K. …

…………… Post Article 50,

Britain,   (perhaps by then only  England & {maybe} Wales)

may not be allowed to change its mind… even if it ever wanted to

once it saw how bad the actual alternate choices were.

Like filing for an adversarial divorce, or even like declaring war; the ultimate outcome is not fully predictable, or under the control of the initiator.

Leave voters were promised MORE control over their local choices,
with no huge down-sides. The final outcome … may be worlds apart!

…………..

Those voters, over 30,
in England and Wales;
who have decided than all British citizens
should be thrown into the uncertainty of an unfriendly divorce
with the rest of Europe,
have made a choice based on supposed benefits that are proving increasingly illusory.

The intense pain of Brexit is still but a shadow of its full self, and already it is proving a lot worse
than most Leave voters (and many Remain voters)
ever imagined … and the future may be drastically worse.

………………

The many, many,
acrimonious
confrontations/negotiations
with the rest of the EU … are only looming.

Instead of storming out of the E.U. ,
Britain should have pushed for more local control
of immigration and market details,
for ALL of the members states
(many of whom have their own Euro-skeptics) instead of trying to make Britain separate and unique.

The latest court decisions might offer Britain a path back to safety and sanity.

I fervently hope that the British Parliament uses this opportunity for second thoughts.

Hard Brexit would
almost certainly
be seen as a ‘F.U.’
by most of the E.U. …

Humanity has larger, more inevitable, problems to tackle right now;

like Climate Change …  Terrorism … and job loss from automation;

we do NOT need THIS  fight right now…

and maybe Britain’s Parliament can still back away from it.
